VMAs are AV-8B II/II+ Harrier Sqaudrons and the VMFAs are F/A-18A+ or F/A-18C Squadrons. VMFA(AW)s are F/A-18D Squadrons.
VMA-513 made a name for themselves in Korea.
I know there are a lot more, but once again, just a few off the top of my head.
Does anyone have info on some of the origins of some of the Army or Air Force squadrons?
