Yes I know it is not recommended to use superglue for inside an enclosed cockpit build, yes I am running into an issue in which I am building a P-51 and I need to attach the wire for the antenna that goes from the seat to the vertical tailplane that goes through the canopy. Can superglue be used if I do not enclose the cockpit for a number of days or should I try to make the epoxy work?
It’s all about the fumes released by the CA glue. I’ve found that if you dip your clear parts in Future (or similar product), it creates a barrier that protects the clear styrene. I think your approach of not sealing the canopy should work, but it might be prudent to try it on a ‘test’ piece first.
Cheers!
Well good news is that it all of the clear pieces have been dipped in Future. So I guess I could bite the bullet and use “VERY VERY” small amounts of super glue and let it air out before closing up the cockpit.
I’ve never had any fogging issues using CA in a cockpit as long as it cures before closing it up. Think resin cockpits, photo-etch panels, etc. We don’t even think about it. Years ago I did use CA to attach a closed canopy on a finished plane…. Yup you guessed it, completely fogged canopy.
