Need a little advice. I need to glue some pieces onto another piece that is coated with Future.
What I’m glueing are the shuttlecraft to the hangar floor in the PL Refit Enterprise. The hangar floor has a generous layer of Future to give it a glassy look. What is the best way to keep the shuttlecraft in postion? Elmer’s glue, maybe? Any tips would be appreciated since I’ve never glued to Future before.
The BEST way is to drill holes in the base and mount the models with screws… Failing that, use CA or epoxy, or even a good ol’ contruction adhesive like Liquid Nails…
You could (very carefully) sand down small spots where you wish to glue the shuttles. You probably wouldn’t need to make big spots. Use a couple layers of tape around the spots to help you avoid mistakes. Use something like a small piece of 150 grit glued to the end of a dowel or pencil to do the sanding in a somewhat surgical mannor. Put your drops of glue on the spots and place your models on them (sand a spot on them too).
Han’s idea of drilling small holes and screwing them down is probably better, easier and less prone to mistakes though.
I did drill a hole and I was going to try using screws to hold some of the larger pieces in place but some of the smaller “worker bees” were to small to screw in. I ended up using Elmer’s white glue to hold them in place and so far its working very well. It appears the white glue bonds well to the Future.
Since it worked so well with the Woker Bees I used the same glue on the larger ships.
