Hey all thanks for looking. On the surface it sounds like I want to blatently copy book stuff or something similar. Nope that isn’t the case here.
Recently I was a member of a forum that had zero tolerance for anything that even looked like reference material. When doing scratchbuilding and heavy modifications it helps to at least be able to show what you are referring to and point out the details.
In this case the kit I am building is the DeAgostini Millenium Falcon and to be frank, ALL reference material on it is copyrighted one way or another. However there is fair use and I don’t just post up a photo as such. There is a reason and it is used to point out the problem or what is needed to correct the problem.
The best way is to post some examples of exactly what I am talking about and get some feedback whether it is allowable or not.
These are about the most blatent examples I have so far. Most of what I have done so far has nothing that could cause a problem.
If one of the powers that be could give me a thumbs up or down on these I will be glad to edit them, not post them or work within what you would prefer. While there are some other bits that have photos of the various models that I use for pointing out details, those are off the web and are just as specific as these for why they are being used in posts.
As DeAgostini is an advertizer I know this could be sticky. As I don’t want to cause any problems, ask first in this case.

There is some awesome stuff I have done on this kit so far, should I just go ahead and post and let it go unless someone has a snit fit?

Just need an opinion here before going full tilt as I would rather have it fixed up front than have to do a go back.

Thanks Aaron, much appreciated. I have actually been reviewing and cleaning up some of the earlier pictures to make better posts. I guess it helped having a couple of months of posting elsewhere to know what I want things to look like.
If you are just linking to a photo on an existing web site that is okay- not a copyright violation. If you copy the image, post it on your own web site as an image, not a link, that is. The normal method in FSM forums- the use of the image icon and entering the URL of an existing site, is the former, and should be okay.
Usually Don, what I end up doing is to take part of the photo and add graphics to point out things that I am looking at. As part of it I will also credit where it is from or who it originated with. In some cases the original site is not around any more or I have no clue where it came from. I learned a long time ago that internet photos can dissappear the next day. So I save a copy of everything. Take a look at my DeAG Millennium Falcon build and advise. Thanks!
