US Olive Drab: Which One Is Right?

hi guys,[:)]
i’m looking at the polly scale acrylic range of paints and see different types of US OD:
“US Olive Drab” (polly scale PS5098)
“ANA 613 US Olive Drab” (polly scale PS5080)
and also
“FS34087 Olive Drab” (polly scale PS5370)

does anyone know which one was used for their aircraft, and which one on armour? sorry for a bit of cross-forum posting, but i want to have the right colour when i do some US armour down the line.

i know this is a bit “rivet counter-ish” but would appreciate the help all the same![:p]
regards,
nick

I’ve always wondered about that myself too. I think PS5098 is US WWII Army armour Olive Drab but it is too light and brown. It is in located near the German armour colors so I think it is WWII US Armour. Maybe it’s good for a highly weathered OD.

ANA 613 is the late war Army Air Force olive drab although I’ve read that ANA 613 was manufactured too late to actually be used in WWII. Polly Scale also has an USAAF Olive Drab. I think this would be better than ANA 613 for US Army aircrafts during WWII. It is a dark olive drab.

FS34087 Olive Drab would be post WWII US Armour and very late WWII US Armour .

That’s 4 different stock numbers for Olive Drab right there in one line of paint. Incredible.

hungfarlow thanks very much for your help[:)]
…given the “faded” nature of the olive drab you suggest, i think when i come to do my next sherman, i’ll probably give it a priming coat ofvery dark green then the PS5098 over the top; hopefully this will help add depth to the model, as well as authenticity.[:D]
thank you once again, as i realise this topic hardly jumps off the page and screams “reply to me!!”[:p]
