A few weeks ago i finished my Hasegawa 1/72 US M3A1 halftrack, when it comes to painting i usually use the colours from other similiar models, such as a sherman or jeep for ideas. But now i have noticed that there is no real green/olive to US armour. Ive seen dark olives, light olives, greens and even metallic greys on armour. Is there a true colour to US armour, or is it basically a massive range of different shades.
As I see it: There were 3 different manufactuer’s for the M3…ergo, 3 different types of tech order OD plus thier variations (no 2 companies used the same mix ratio, pigment size and so on). Now you take in weathering and field effects/repairs and all of a sudden there is a gazillion variations on a single color.
Don’t worry about it.
Whether it is the most accurate or not I like the looks of Model Master O.D. Yes the weathering of it will alter any base color from the norm.
yeah
Olive Drab has many shades, but they’re all dirty.
