US fleet

Tracy,

Let’s just agree that WWII was a tremendous national effort, and that a ship model released to depict that ship at any one point of her career can be modified to reflect her at another.

Bill

Turns out I was a bit incorrect early; it appears Trumpeter has doubled down and will be releasing two different Indianapolises:

Trumpeter 1/350 USN USS Indianapolis 1944 CA-35 Cruiser Kit (05327)

Trumpeter 1/350 USN USS Indianapolis 1945 CA-35 Cruiser Kit (05326)

Isn’t Trumpeter coming out with a 1941 1/700 USS Maryland? (Can’t wait to see how they tackle the cage mast)

Pretty much all of the big 5 in 1/700th,…

Battleship: USS Arizona Dragon

Cruiser:

Destroyer: Benham or Dunlap class DD from Midships (Fletcher class and later didn’t arrive until 1942.

Aircraft Carrier: Lexington, Saratoga, or Enterprise. (Ranger, Yorktown, and Wasp were in the Atlantic and Hornet was not in commission)

Trumpeter now has the Maryland out in 1/700, too, in her configuration as she appeared at Pearl Harbor.

Someone also has a 1/700 Pennsylvania out, too, if I’m not mistaken, in her late '30’s configuration. Of course, I’ve been working on converting an Arizona to the Pennsy all this time!

Did a little research:

Heavy Cruisers at Pearl Harbor:

USS New Orleans (CA-32) (New Orleans Class)

USS San Francisco (CA-38) (New Orleans Class)

Light Cruisers:

CL-46 Phoenix (Brooklyn Class)

CL-48 Honolulu (Brooklyn Class)

CL-49 St. Louis (St. Louis Class)

CL-50 Helena (St. Louis Class)

CL-7 Raleigh (Omaha Class) <— Ugly looking ship too.

Destroyer classes:

Porter, Farragut, and Mahan

At sea with Halsey:

CV-2 USS Lexington

CV-6 USS Enterprise

CA-29 Chicago (Northampton Class)

CA-33 Portland (Portland Class)

CA-35 Indianapolis (Portland Class)

CA-25 Salt Lake City (Pensacola Class)

CA-26 Northampton (Northampton Class)

CA-27 Chester (Northampton Class)

CA-34 Astoria (New Orleans Class)

CA-36 Minneapolis (New Orleans Class)
