US CARRIER AVIATION GROUP BUILD 2013

[:|] Move along…these are not the scales we are looking for. Move along, move along!

Hey! What?! Wait a minute…BISH!!! [:D]

Hi folks!

Nice picture, Bish!

I am so glad all of you have joined so fast (seems like this one was really missing)

I think this will be a lot of fun!

shivinigh: I’ll update the entry list as soon as i get home (in about 30mins)

eagle: Yep, it’s Bish! He helped me a lot on picking a theme and setting this one up for you all. I’m happy he has joined.

Clemens

Clemens, yeah, BISH is first rate. More than willing to help, and can take a joke! He has helped me bring out my inner 1/72 self! [:P] This a great GB Clemens, I am really looking forward to seeing everyone’s builds. I have felt improvements from the 1/72 GB I’m in already. I think it is a great idea for newbies to jump in and have fun. Especially when everyone has positive attitudes and comments/suggestions. It really does help improve ones skill level. Thanks Clemens!

Eagle90

No problem at all, Eagle!

I’m happy to host this one.

I’ll put some Text on the badges and put them up. (I will post the links to the pics too, so one of you guys can make some that look probably better than mine)

Clemens

Cool Group build Clemens. You sure only American planes allowed? Not arguing, just checking, as I’d like to do a Seafire at some point, but I also have a few Grumman Cats as well.

Yes, I’m sure.

Sorry, but only murican planes in this GB.

Maybe I’ll host another one for brits and/or other nations if this one goes well.

Clemens

You are on the list, Shivinigh!

I’ve added the badges too.

Clemens

I’d like to join in this GB

I am having a devil of a time picking an aircraft to model for it, though (and NO, tossing a coin would not help, I would be at that for a week, lol)

right now I have it narrowed down to the F6C on Langley (CV-1) or the Super Hornet on Reagan (76),or somewhere in between, and tail codes between AA and NP

anyway, easy jokes aside, I would like to join, but, will have to decide what to build later on

Rex

Welcome to the GB, Rex

I put your name on the list.

Just tell me your project when you have decided… Is the first one the F6C Hawk? Because that would be really interesting.

Cheers, Clemens

Clemens, I was thinking: would you consider allowing kits of the carriers themselves?

Of course, it’s entirely up to you, and I’ll be in it for the airplanes, but it just seemed that if someone wanted to build the carrier itself with the aircraft on the deck–that might be nifty.

There are quite a few carrier models around in 1/350 and 1/700, as well as some odd scales.

I didn’t do it for any GB, but here’s USS Lexington (1/700) with Devastators I did for the 1942 GB.

Anyway, merely a suggestion. I think the naval carrier aviation GB is a good idea, and I’m glad to take part in it.

Actually I wanted this GB for the aircraft only…

So, I think I will leave it like this.

Clemens

OK, no problem: “an idea whose time has not yet come.”

I just ordered a nice little kit at Hannants for this group build:

What do you think?

Cheers, Clemens

shiv, Eagle, Clemens, you guys can stop blaming me. I wasn’t anywhere near it at the time, where ever it was, and i had nothing to do with it, what it is.

Clemens, i do like the badges as they are.

Eagle, shiv, so whne can we expect GB’s from you guys [;)] You don’t get away that lightly.

Clemens, i know nothing about these type of aircraft, but the Corsair does looks a sweet plane.

  1. I’m not blaming you at all, Bish. For nothing.

  2. If ya like the badges, I’ll throw those ugly links out of my post.

  3. DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! Really guys, open some GBs somwhere in the future

Cheers, Clemens

Same as me, Bish

Only things I know bout the Corsair:

  • It looks awesome
  • It uses the same engine as the Hellcat and Thunderbolt
  • It looks awesome!
  • It is carrier-based
  • It looks awesome!!
  • It is on the first GB badge
  • Have i mentioned it looks awesome already?

Clemens

Don’t worry Bish I accidently erased all the video evidence.

I muffed up. My entry is the Vought F7U-3M Cutlass. Not the skyray, still 1/72 Fujimi kit

If I can get a time worked out I will try and do a GB for transport aircraft. I would like to work it out with another GB so folks can do crossovers.

Sorry shiv, theres been that much going on lately, i am loseing track a bit. I forgot it was you who brought up the transport. If you time that right, i think you will get a lot of interest.

Clemes, so you think its a nice looking plane then.

Yes, i do think it’s a nice looking plane. How did you know? [;)]

No problem, Shiv. I’ll update that right now.

Does anyone of you know where I can get the Cyberhobby Hellcat in 1/48 scale? I want one with folded wings and this kit is really nice, as far as i heard…
