hey M1. no it isnt celuclay it is another artists clay dont remember which one i took it out of its bag and put it in another. waiting for it to dry so i can sand and shape it and get some more work done on it.
looks great! i love the tutorial. I especially like how you made the drainage grate-thing with jsut a bit of wire or pipe or whatever. Ill have to try that. Cant wait to see more work on the wall!
thanks Ian i still have a lot of sanding and shaping to do but it will be worth it i hope. the rebar out of the top of the wall is made out of cut paper clips and the drainage is made out of the smallest brass rod i could find at the hobby shop.
i will keep taking pics as i progress and keep you all updated.
i guess it would be helpful too as i go to tell you what i used.
from michaels :
7x7 wood base (they have a variety of sizes)
paperclay is what i used on the wall and street. isnt really clay but works just the same.
7/16 inch styrofoam board to cut the wall out.
amaco 1/4 inch copperform mesh to form the side walk.
from my LHS :
1/16 or 1/15 brass tubing for the sewer grating.
from my draw :
paper clips for rebar. the rigid kind of paper clips look much better for this but i was out and got lazy so i used plain old paper clips.
match sticks which i burnt to put in the 55 gallon drum.
spare parts box.
55 gallon drum from tamiyas
the 55 gallon drum i took my dremel to it and made some holes then i scuffed up the whole drum with a metal polishing wheel to give it that not so new look
thanks jurgen gonna try to get some more done tonight and get some pics up. the base has dried fully and the side walk sank some have to level that out. the street i dont want perfect but make it look like a New York City street which are far from perfect.
i sanded down the sides of the building trying to give it a more square look.
i added another layer of clay to the sidewalk to even it out and filled in the seems around the curb so there is no gap.
i was going to put like a ditch at the front but it didnt look right so i filled in the ditch and made the street level.
i decided i want to put a man hole to experimenting with it right now but i may make a solid one out of the clay and have it open a bit or not, not sure yet.
keeping the scraps of clay around to make some debris from the blown up wall.
i used a file and scored the top of the wall to give it that not so smooth look about it.
hopefully some more building tonight and more pics
