Wow that sucks. I will say this being a network engineer and working in IT for 18 years, never upgrade\install to a new OS from Microsoft until it has been out for at least 6 months and the first service pack is available for it.
Remember, when Microsoft sas plug-n-play they reall mean plug-n-crash.
Have you checked MS tech net yet???
when i bought windows 7 I undderstood it really was a large vista upgrade, tech support when I found out this happened it was with a dvd , but only one dvd was doing it now a movie playing in windows media is causeing the problems, he sais there was nothing he could do and dont use the disk, some tech support so now ots a windows media issus I will call email him and his boss tomorrow and report, as more people get the problem mabey thay will do something with it thats the only problemive found so far but its only been 4 days, remember when vista first came out it almost didnt run sp1 fixed a lot so I will do my movie downloading on my vista laptop, as M1 Carbine wrote wait 6 months, hell Id wait a year one more glitch and I am takeing off and going back to vista. Its too bad these software writers should run a year beta test to work out bugspay 119 dollars you expect it to work, a lot of problems is they outsource code to different venders then try to make it all work. and my opion I think microsoft made another dud. but stlll looking fo another program like photobucket
Imageshack or flickr. There are tons of sites.
Windows 7 hasn’t caused any issues with photobucket on my systems.
Hi first off W7 did go through a fairly long beta test… and then a release candidate was available for a few more months. All in all about a year. Playing media is pretty well bullet proof and I’m sure this is something MS tested a lot as media is the one thing pretty much every computer will do.
I’m betting there’s something you’ve missed. Have you updated your video drivers for example? Do you have the newest flash players etc??
Vista was a dissaster I’m sure MS put a lot of money and time in making sure W7 was good. I betta tested it and liked it.
I never use windows media though. Try the divx player (comes with all divx codecs obviously)
Nothing MS makes is bullet proof I know from first hand experience. PM me with your system specs and Ill see what I can do.
Bob
Like I always say
“If Microsoft worked as advertised there would be no need for IT staff”
Isn’t this fraud? putting out an untested product? they did the same thing with Vista except they knew it had problems and they released it anyway. That’s fraud!!!
I just bought a new laptop (rest in peace my old XP laptop) and so far I haven’t had any issues. I work for HP and we’ve had Windows 7 test machines for a while now. Some of th guys have even had Win 7 on their personal machines for several months now and everyone seems to love it over Vista. Myself, I never used vista. Not once. So comparing XP to Win 7… I liked XP, but 7 seems to have some real nice features. And since I work for HP, I got upgraded from Win 7 Home to Ultimate for free. And it has an XP option.
But I have had no issues with windows media or photobucket. Sounds as if a driver is missing. Also, are you running Win 7 32bit or 64bit. Cause that makes a big difference in what media player you can use. Windows media has a 64bit specific format.
here is all info on computer

They test it. They test it again and again and again. Before they print those discs they have looked at that code every which way but Sunday. The problem is there are 100 milliong PCs out there each with different configurations and software and other extraneous code in them. It is impossible to check how every bit of code ever written will interact with a new operating system.
The thing that made PCs and Windows so great in the begining, licensed technology thus driving down the price, is working against them today. The massive amount of hard ware and software available for the PC, as opposed to the Mac, makes MS’s job incredibly hard. Imagine if there were 1000 different M4 kits out there and Verlinden had to make a single conversion set to fit them all. The fact that the geeks at MS make Winows fit 99% of the hardware is amazing.
That being said, I am switching to Mac. Apple knows what’s in every computer and knows that every line of code is compatible because they control it. Costs twice as much but worth it.
I would switch to Mac but I cant get some of the software i use. The problem is the tec support you get are not really computer techs they jus follow a fow chart off a computer screen and with them being in Bombay or the Philipines you cant hardly understand them I aske one how long he was a tech and his answer was 6 months
bgrigg, do you have any wireless devices in your rig?
Not in my Win7 rigs. I have a laptop and desktop that are wireless, but both run XP.
Thanks for all the replys, I have had enough of computer . and I am going to go build a model Moderators you can lock this one out I got the answer I was after
thanks all
Jim
I think your problem is the upgrade itself. The Vista upgrade to Windows 7 has some flaws and annoying problems. Hopefully they’ll release some patches for the folks who did the Vista upgrade. I went down the other road and waited untill Windows 7 was released before I got a new laptop. Thus it prevented the headaches of having to upgrade. Best of luck solving your software problems, Sherman1111.
Sorry to hear your Win7 Upgrade probs.
I work for a well known UK University as a IT geek, & we have been evaluating Win 7 since Beta2 & personally since RC1. We have completly avoided Vista, as it caused us problems with very expensive ‘mission critical’ software.
I’ve been running Win7 on 2 pc’s for my own use, but both clean installs.
erm… Win 7 works best with a ‘clean install’ on hardware. See if you can get a ‘non upgrade’ version, wipe the pc & start again? You did back everything up didn’t you?
Upgrade disks will allow “clean” installs, you just need a valid license install disk on hand.
Mac Pro book upgraded to Snow Leopard last week or the week before. WOW.
Just installed Service Pack to to Vista premium aout an hour ago and the amount of time for a restart was crazy.
