Well, here is the latest e-mail from Hans. Looks like those of us with pre-orders are going to have to pay some shipping after all.

We did a very lean calculation on this kit, box size will be approx. 120cm x 60cm x 60cm and a weight of about 20KG. Since this is way more than we expected we will ask those who preordered at our very low price for a partial coverage of shipping cost.

Finally the test shot will be sent to us next week or so. We will then send pictures to you of the sprues.

I received the same email update and I found it curious that they would pre-order just the barrel for $199…I guess for those who’d rather scratchbuild the rest? [:)]

The kit weighs over 20 kg…it’s going to be a monster.

Hi Sauren.Does dragon manufacture that huge Tiger ? Is it injection molded plastic like most other models ? So why the huge price ? rudedog

It’s a kit of the Dora Railgun, a massive beast in 1:1 scale, the largest rail gun every constructed. Look at the dimensions on the box…and the weight…and compare that to your average tank kit…it’s nearly 50 pounds unassembled! [:D] The manufacturer is Heller, it is styrene along with multimedia parts for the barrel and some other fittings as I understand it and it will be distributed both in Europe and the US and, since it’s huge and a somewhat limited market, the kit is priced accordingly. I believe the built up prototype was over 6’ in length and 4’ tall or something along those lines. [;)]

That’s really impressive. The price is impressive as well. Perhaps in another life…
