Hey, you wouldnt happen to be an airborne medical company would you?
I am a medic in the 66aviation bgde. We are a pretty big brigade. We have apache’s, chinooks, blackhawks and I think we still have a few cobra’s as well.
If you cross threads a little you will notice that the armor here is HEAVILY weathered… some readers have been discussing on another thread whether heavy weathering is more artistic than realistic and I’d have to say these real tanks scream the answer is… it depends!!!
we have a huey on a stick nearby…all shiny green too…lol
SInce you guys were at least kind enough to say thanks… I went on a hunt for armor around post and found some stuff I know you will be glad to see… Shermans, Halftracks and much more!! ENJOY!!
Well, thanks again! Notice pic 12 of the Sherman thing. I find it interesting that there is no rust color visible at all. Perhaps I need to make some alterations in my painting
those have been painted in the last 10years. That sherman was sitting on a concrete pedistool for as long as I can remember. They just recently moved it to its present location. Oh and it runs BTW. Secondly if you are looking at these armor photos and noticing the weathering… remember these tanks have been exposed to our wet, rain soaked climate for years and thats the weathering from I’ll say at least 10years of rain. I did find one of our M1A2 that has been parked for 7 or so years and it shows lots of surface rust and paint chiping. I was going to get some pictures for you guys but the turrent was covered with a tarp and I was not feeling up to crawling all over that big beast and lugging that tarp off and back on. I’ll only go so far to share some reference material!
Good point. Thanks
Hey, those are great pics! Thanks for putting them up. Certainly gives us some food for thought when it comes to weathering.
Thanks for sharing your album Mr. Pharoah. Great stuff!!! Those are some of the best Sherman pictures out there. M3 and M24 are great too. UH-1D photos are really nice, I’m planning on building one with very similar markings. I try to do alot of Vietnam models.
Thanks for going to the trouble of shooting, and posting all of the great pics. They will go along way in helping to better detail these subjects. Semper Fi, mike
