I hesitate starting this thread now because I know the winter will delay my build since I build mostly in my garage. I’ve been slowly working on this beast of a project since August. Most of that time was dedicated to getting the large pieces straight. Two years in my garage left them pretty warped. Now I am in the process of drilling holes and fitting the fiberoptics, talk about a tangled mess. I will get some pics up as soon as I get back into my imagur account. Should be this weekend. It won’t look like much but it has been a couple of months work.
I’m looking forward to your build. Online build articles show a very impressive kit- you’ve got some b*lls, man.
As a longtime ship modeler, I would suggest that you design and build a good solid temporary work base, one that can be switched out for a finished one later.
When I build say a 1/350 aircraft carrier, I’ll mount her on pedestals on a piece of 1x10 shelf board longer than the ship. I like to put a upturn piece of same on one end, it allows me to lay the thing on it’s side and still have a sturdy support for working on it.
Thanks for the advice, I will have to do something like that once I get to that stage. Not my first time playing in resin, but the other ships hulls were one solid piece. This one comes in six parts, three top and three bottom, that you join together and the warping is not helping. We will see how it goes together.
Rambo, thanks i may pick your brain a little. This will be my third lighting effort and with each one i try to do something to improve. I guess we all do that tho.

I strengthened it by epoxy flat steel bars on the inside.
The superstructure just cobbled together to get an idea of how it looks.
The original design was probably a take - off of a door stop !I have seen so many Star Wars and othe Sci-Fi ships that had roots in common things till the imagineer decided to take a chance .I definitely wouldn’t have room for this .My Enterprise Carrier ( when I get her ) is going to test the theory that you can put a large ship in a tight space !
I have about 100 strands going through there. These were all drilled with a .5mm bit in a pin vise. I have since bought a miniature electric drill which should really speed things up.
Well not much work done. I’ve been drilling holes and filling them with fiber. I think I may have gone overboard. I figure if it is to much then I can just paint over some. Better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them. So this is the super structure lighting:
And a little work on the sensor domes.
Next will be putting the upper hull plates together and attaching the super structure.
