Sadly, I just realized that AMPSeast is in two weeks. Man, talk about the summer slipping by - happens every year, should probably be used to it by now. [V]
Anyhoo, I’m definitely going to Granitecon in NH next month, [:D] but I’m trying to decide if I can cram AMPSeast into my schedule. Would certainly make a big difference if a bunch of you fellas are going to be there. So what’s the word? Anyone going? Or, more specifically, anyone going that isn’t going to Granitecon?
At AMPSEast, I know it’s a busy day but do we all want to meet up say for lunch…maybe around 1 or 1:30. we could all eat, chat and get back to walk the room one last time. Just a suggestion unless anyone has a better idea!!
Even though I haven’t been to a model show in years, I may take a ride up to Granitecon. (I need a swift kick in the arse to get really active with this hobby again… maybe someone there will do it! [%-)]) I was hoping to meet Redleg12 (at least) at AMPSEast this year to see his latest ‘in the flesh’ however; I will be somewhere out in the Atlantic at that time and if I haven’t had too much to drink come Sunday, I may even think of you guys.

Have a great time all that do attend those events!
SMJ - you’re definitely out at Granitecon? Bummer.
Looking forward to seeing those of you that are heading to GC, I’m going to have to finagle a way to get that Friday before AMPS off from work if I’m going to be able to go…was thinking I might be able to drive after I got out, but Danbury is a tad farther than I thought (420 miles). Heh. [V]
I’m having second thoughts about getting a room[sigh] Beside’s I’d feel a whole lot better about myself if I were to give the money I saved to some needy vendor[:-^]
I won my first first place trophy at Granitecon, for a car kit no less! I remember my daughter wanted to come and enter all her model builds. She ended up winning three trophies. She was 11 at the time.
That is a great story (well, the part about your daughter winning three trophies… [;)]) Seriously, though, that is cool. Just out of curiousity, how did you get your daughter into building? Does she still? How old is she now? I have a nephew who I think is ripe for it, and I am trying to get him into modeling…
She started around age 9 or 10 with some snap-tite kits, most of the old MPC Return of the Jedi reissued snap kits (TIE, X-Wing, AT-ST) and a few of the Episode 1 snap kits off the clearance aisle (Gungan sub, Naboo fighter, Droid fighters). Eventually went on to build the old Monogram Willys Jeep (reboxed by Revell of Germany) and graduated to the Tamiya M151A2 Jeep. She also did a few of the Lindberg low rider kits that used batteries to make them hop and light up.
The last kit she worked on was the Tamiya Pink Panther Landrover before she lost interest. She’s 14 now (15 in a month or so), a freshman in HS and she’s been cheerleading for the last 3 years, both football and basketball. Plus she started dating. I don’t think she’s tried a kit since late 2004 or early 2005.
