Upcoming Dragon German Ack Ack

A new 30mm AA gun w/trailer. First time ever in styrene. Wonder if they’ll ever do a 40mm bofors?

Saw this announcement today as well and it’s definitely an intriguing item…the Flak 38 is a really nice kit and this looks like it keeps a lot of those same elements but also updates the mount and ammo arrangements to fit the 30mm.

Interesting that they have the Sd.Kfz. 11 towing the FlaK. Maybee we will get a DML Sd.Kfz. 11. They used to put pictures of future releases on box art.

That would be a nice change from the 250/251 series.

It’s nice to see some guns. How about a new 25 pdr! Tamiya is as basic as it gets.

Unfortunately, DML’s assumed practice of providing “hints” in the box art around future releases or new kits has pretty much been disproven by those in the know who collaborate with DML on kit specs and box art designs. The same excitement was recently sparked over the appearance of an M16 Quad .50 Half-track in the background of the M4A3E8 and was quickly debunked.

I like Flak weaponry so much! Even the sound of it kickin’ off! Awesome stuff! I’ve given myself an objective now, to collect and build every Flak related kit! [:D]

a 40mm bofors would be really nice and i beleive would be a top seller, beside a resin kit which is hard to find this widely produced aa gun has to be on most peoples wish list. or maybe just mine heh.but that aside i think its great dragon doin these aa kits i will most likely be getting one soon as the hype wears off and i can afford it.

Do you have any of the 88mm from AFV or Dragon?

Seein’ this new kit by Dragon, has made me think about doin’ somethin’ like this! Personally I think it’s a worthwhile objective! Instead of buildin’ a mishmash of kits, i’m gonna’ set myself this project, and hopefully have a nice display of all things Flak! [:D]

I only have Tristar’s FlakPanzer 1A with trailor (which has been superseded by the newer version), but I consider this a great kit and a great start! [;)]

Fingers,

You’ll have a lot of fun with the different Flak offerings out there, the Germans were very good at sticking a Flak piece on anything strong enough to carry it! Alan has a 1/35 kit of the Flakpanzer 38(t) (sometimes called a Gepard), Italeri has kits of the D7 with both the Flak 30 and Flak 38, Tamiya has the Mobelwagens and Wirbelwind as well as the Flakvierling, there are the recent offerings on the Flak 18/36/37 by DML and AFV, etc. means you could get quite a collection going without too much trouble.

That’s right, Bill! At the moment I can only imagine havin’ a big collection of these Flak related kits, built, painted and weathered! I’ve already started, with my Sd.Kfz.222! Cheers! [:D]

Italeri have a ‘Vapourware’ 1/35 80’ Elco, BUT only photo, so far, (i recon at least another year…) with a 40mm bofors on the back… whivh ‘could’ mean a wheeled version in plastic soon… There are resin 40mm’s by various companies out there… Jon UK
