Unusual German fighter

I was perusing boxes of kits at a large show and remember seeing a German(?) fighter, perhaps just planned or prototypde, but it had a cockpit boom on one side and an engine boom of the other. IOW, the pilot didnt sit in the same fuselage as the engine. Really weird looking plane. I went back to check it again and it was gone. Any idea of what it was and who made it? I’d also like to hear others’ odd-ball kits you’ve built.

I think i know the kit, i saw a review of it on modelling madness. Did it have a “Glass Gondola” style cockpit?

Blohm und Voss BV-141

There’s an ancient kit by Airfix in 1/72 and a 1/48th kit by a company whose name escapes me.

I remember seeing a kit like that in the bargain pile at my LHS last year. I pretty sure it was 1/48 but don’t remember the manufacturer. It was probably the Historic.

It sounds like you are discribing the Blohm und Voss P.194 . You can find a lot more Greman prototype aircraft by searching the web for Luftwaffe 1946.

Another cool plane that is similar is the FW 189, recon plane…it actually saw widespread service…

Yep, very cool if youre talking about the FW 189 "A"....I have the Classic Airframes kit of the " B" version and that doesnt have the awesome greenhouse canopy that the A version has! Still looks like a nice kit…comes with resin and PE. I think it`s called Uhu…Owl.

There were alot of german aircraft called the Uhu, i think it was more a designation of night service aircraft. Ive heard Bf-110 night fighters refered to as Uhu’s aswell.

The only two I’ve heard called an owl were the FW189 and Heinkel 219…

At least one is actually named the UHU…Heinkel He 219 A-7. As for the rest, you`re probably right, just nicknames for night fighters. To be honest, I only ever heard 2 A/C be called UHU…the He 219 and the FW189.
