Unusual Floatplanes: Post Links and Piccies

I had no idea this thing existed (the Wildcatfish). Were there other land-planes that got the experimental floatplane treatment?

Someone mentioned to me once that a TBM/TBF had had floats installed one time, but I don’t remember if that was fact, or just a what-if we were tossing around. [*-)]

I’ve seen pics of C-47 on floats.

yep…lots of planes were experimented as floaties…and as a fan of “floatie thingies” I welcome more kits…

I don’t know if it’s all that unusual to see a Maule on floats(amphib), but we had one stop in at my airport for fuel, that had a turbine engine on it. Just didn’t sound “right” when it fired up. Ya’ll shoulda seen that gal that was flyin that bird…SMOKIN!!!

Here’s the Gooney Bird

Of course the most famous one of them all the De Havilland Beaver.

Interesting there is no decent kit of this immortal aircraft?

Have vintage pictures of my late father & his brother around various float planes, when I go through the photographs I will take a digital picture of the pictures and post here.

Uncle Bill was a bush pilot back in the day. He flew supplies, prospectors, cargo and a few successful rescue missions. In the process he totaled two Cessna 170 float planes.

In progress I have a 1/72 scale Revell Norseman float plane. Not mush done as life has cut into all model building at this time. It will be built & marked as a Saskatchewan medical courier. Dedicated to dad who was born & lived in Saskatchewan, he worked in the north of the province core drilling, transported to remote locations via float plane.

Needless to say its my current ‘in or it’ project. If a GB arises dedicated to float planes count me in![ap]
