United B747

Hi guys,

Here is a 1/200 Hasegawa B747 in United’s “Saul Bass” livery. I scratch made flaps/slats/gear and flexed the wings for flight.

Regards,

Brad Shinn

That is a nice job. Well done!

Love the photos as much as the model. I am a big advocate of realistic model photos. Most photos of models are what I call “model as art”, which uses high camera angle, flat lighting and plain background.

Realistic model photography shows the model from realistic viewing angles, sun lighting, and against realistic backgrounds. What is the model sitting on in the “tarmac” shots? It sure looks like tarmac!

Very well done. Nice subtle weathering that is so difficult to capture on the civilian airliners. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks very much!![:)]

Thanks very much Don. The tarmac photos are taken from cut slabs of dry wall.

Your Welcome!!!

Good looking 747!

Very nice. Always liked this livery.

Cheers, Aaron

Thank You Aaron for the reply!!

Looks great, nice build.[Y]

A beautiful job!!! I’m curious, how do you progress through a build like this? Do you complete the detailing of the wings, engines, etc. (painting, decaling, weathering) before attaching to the fuselage, or do you do your painting and decaling with the wings and horizontal stabilizers attached (seems like this would be extremely difficult)? Whatever you’re doing, it is working!!

Bob

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the reply!!

I almost always attach wings/stabs on last after painting fuselage. Sometimes I dont have a choice like the large Heller kits. Then wings mounted before decals/painting etc.

Decals before the weathering is done. Adding flaps/slats I’ll add to wings before fitting wings to fuselage. Engines go on after wings on fuselage. So I can check for everything is even between both sides.

So, I guess their’s no wrong way…lol
