Uncloging Model Master liquid cement

I Have a bottle of the mm glue in the triangle bottle and the needle seems to be cloged up. What is the best way to unclog that without damaging it thanks.

Doesn’t the MM cement come with a little wire loop to clear the tip? If not, just poke a fine wire down there to clear it. You may also try putting a drop of liquid cement on the tip to dissolve the dry cement.

If this happens tome, and it does. I just drill it out with a long .020 drill bit. This usually works. If it,s stubborn I soak it in lacquer thinner for a day or two. tankerbuilder

Do you have the Model Master version (metal tip) or the Testors version (plastic tip)? I have had far less problems with the metal tipped MM.

If you got the metal needle-applicator bottle, just run a stiff wire down through it. High E guitar string can be cut up into a number of lengths and works great for that, and you can tape a couple to the bottle if you lost the cleaning wire that came with it… If you don’t have any guitar strings handy, you can strip electrical wire to get some. The copper isn’t nearly as stiff, but it’ll work, eventually… Then store the glue with the wire stuck in the applicator…

You can also clear it by holding it over a candle-flame (with a pliers) and burning it out. Take it out of the bottle first though (I know that that’s just common sense, but SOMEONE here will read that SOMEDAY and NOT do it.)… As the poet said: "Common Sense… Isn’t…

Hmmmmm…I didn’t look at the dates and didn’t realize I was responding to a post someone had bumped up by replying to it. I hope he figured it by now or bought a new one…[*-)]
