I sprayed my 100P tonight. Not happy with the results. The paint doesnt seem to want to stick in the panel lines. Im not sure what im doing wrong. I washed the resin body (Warm water, mild detergent) wiped off any water droplets with a paper towel then left to dry. Primed with Tamiya Fine Surface Prime (L), let that dry, then sprayed with Tamiya TS-44.
Im concerned about the bubbling of the paint. Im not sure why its doing it. Any suggestions?
How long did you let the primer dry? Minutes? Hours? Days?
About an hour. Its never presented a problem in the past. Other kits ive used it on ive sprayed over it within 10 minutes with no consequences.
Did you shake the TS-44 really well? Did you let the can sit in warm water for a few minutes?
paint avoiding the panel lines sounds like there may still be something “release-agent-y” in there - did the primer do the same thing there??
Primer sort of did the same thing. I would have thought a decent scrub with soapy water and a toothbrush would have gotten it all. Is there anything i can do to fix it now?

Idea! -in two parts:
1] a light coat of clear lacquer to “mask” the mystery stuff then after drying; repaint
and /or
2] strip the paint, re wash, re prime, re paint .

As primarily a model car builder, I recommend(you ain’t gonna want to hear this) strip the paint & wash the plane.
Soak in Westleys Bleech White-white wall tire cleaner at least over night. Clorox bleach works also. Wash with warm Dawn dish detergent water. Use soft toothbrush to scrub all the indentions. Rinse WELL. Wipe down with alcohol/dry & do the process again.
Others will probably have more ideas.
Cheers jeep. i didnt know bleach stripped paint. Does it damage resin? it was a really expensive kit and i dont want to damage it.
usually you get that effect when the paint is thinned out too much.

I don’t know if bleach will strip paint. Resin is a different material than plastic. DO NOT put resin in brake fluid to strip paint. I’m told this will nearly melt resin. Possibly Purple Power or similair will take the paint off.
Bleech White or bleach will remove the mold release agent from resin parts. This release agent acts like grease when it comes resisting paint. This could be your problem-the release agent used on the resin.
Do the instructions say anything about cleaning the body and/or what with?
Try to get more input on what to strip the paint with. Resin kits/parts are good but usually pricey.
Ah, cheers Jeep. The instructions are pretty limited. Its a planet models kit. It just says to wash the parts in soapy water. which i did.
I was going to get some ELO paint stripper. And ive heard simple green is good for stripping paint. But im not sure if they work with resin.
