I’m currently building the Academy 1/35 UH-1C Huey Frog and I must say that the decals are horrible. I have some spare decals from other builds and I was wondering if there was UH-1C Huey in grey paint scheme for the Navy.
Does anybody know where to find some reference pictures. Do they ever existed?
Thanks
The Navy didn’t use the UH-1C in grey. They did use them as part of HA(L)-3 Seawolfs in Vietnam, who supported SEALs in the Mekong Delta. They were left in Army OD, since they came from the Army, and had NAVY stenciled on the tailboom in either black or white. Here is a website about them.
Seawolf info.
And an example.

I have built one as a Seawolf bird. It came out looking pretty good. Fireball Modelworks now has a HA(L)-3 Seawolfs decal sheet too. The decals were not around when I made mine. I pieced old NAVY decals together and made the destinctive nose decal myself.
Good luck.

Wow Pretty cool. Thank you much guys.
HeavyArty, fireballworks seemed to be out of business when I tried to visite their website. I might make the decl myself also.
Fireball works fine for me. I just talked to Joseph a few days ago and he is going strong. Either way, good luck on it.
Hi Andy,
Excellent pics! I was looking for good pics of the weapons mounts, so those will fit the bill nicely!
Cheers,
