Dear falcon039,
Your photos are excellent! – I was wondering if you have any on file of the MBT-70 at Aberdeen? I have a few photos but none of them show the suspension system in any detail, and it’s pretty unique, at least I’ve yet to see machinary like it under any other tank…
Cheers,
Thunderbolt379
Hey Thunderbolt379, [#welcome] to the forums. As for pictures of the MBT70, I have the pictures of it on page two of this topic. If you need more pics just let me know and I will try to get some more detail photos for you.
Hi Falcon039,
Thanks for the welcome! Your MBT-70 pictures are superb – I couldn’t have asked for better! The resource you’ve created here has the edge on even the Verlinden books for sheer detail! Plus of course having the Ordnance Museum to work with is a source of material second to none!
There are some details which will probably remain forever hidden, e.g., what the articulation of the suspension swing-arms looked like where it joined up to the wheels, or how the underside/belly plate was configured, but as these bits will be as invisible on a model as on the real thing, I have to ask if that’s really an issue?!
I think there’s probably as much detail here as is needed to do the job. Thanks for your offer of extra shots – I’ll do some detail drawings and see if there’s anything I can’t work out from the existing collection.
Many thanks once again – your research is greatly appreciated!
All my best,
Thunderbolt37
