U.S. Mig-29's???

Just read the following article by accident on the web (some of you veterans may already know about this):

http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/russia/airdef/980500-mig-airman.htm

Does anyone know where any of these birds are on display? If they were bought in 1998 then I figured the NAIC must have been done with them right now, and they must’ve been cleared for public scrutiny already. I’m also wondering if any of you guys who lived near Wright-Patterson AFB noticed these Moldovan aircraft being unloaded during that time. Haven’t seen a Mig-29 up close and so I’d love to visit one in person.

By the way, don’t you think these planes would make good mounts for our Aggressor squadrons? That would really keep our Top Gun and Red Flag students on their toes! [:D]

Cheers,

Great story! I thought the US already had a handful of Fulcrums… Can anyone confirm?

it would make sense to create a real aggressor squadron. but it would be a beurocratic nightmare of feindish proportions

actually they do have MIG 29’s in US agressor squadrons at both the US Navy Top Gun school and the Air Forces Red Flag exercises plus the US government also got several squadrons of MIG 21’s and SU 27’s as well from other ex-Soviet bloc countries as well.

I live 25 min from write patterson and this is the first ive heard of them being there ill see what else i can dig up. Chances are if they are there now they will no doubt be on display soon probably in their cold war hangar ill try to find out.[8D]

no I heard they were at a group of hangars at Andrews AFB
