These may help…

HEMTT cab 1

HEMTT cab 2

Thanks for the help guys, whet I am looking for is a mg mount on the passanger side. in the ones on fire, wounder what the story is there yo can see many with the mg mount, how wherer r they installed? and what cal were the mg, whonderful photo guys thanks

jd

all the ones i’ve seen they are mounted with the .50 cal. as far as how are they mounted etc. i wish i could help ya. the ones that are destroyed, if you are refering to those that i gave you, one was hit with small arms fire that started a fire and they were carrying fuel and tank rounds…well, use your imagination as the truck on fire exploded and caught the others on fire as well!

I understand. but from a distance it almost looks like a band of steel that goesaround the cab for the mg mount to set into. I am trying to do the same on a hemtt model. and if my eyes arnt failing it looks like there are 50’s on the tankers. put the call out again anyone have pictures of how MG are mounted on the passanger side of the hemtt and thr m-978 heavy fuel truck. Pictures would be wonderful

thanks

jd

This pic is actually before the invasion in Kuwait at Camp Virginia. Those HEMTTs are from my Bn, 1-39 FA (MLRS). There was a fuel pumping station being built right outside the camp to push fuel forward as we invaded. It somehow caught fire and burned for 2 days before it was put out. It took the pucker factor up when it started. We didn’t know if we were under attack or not. It was also on the side of the ammo dump. The MLRS pods in the HEMTTs are live M26 rockets and they also had other ammo on them.

For HEMTT gun mounts, they are the same as a standard .50 cal mount that has a frame and 4 legs. The rear 2 are like other truck mounts and attach with u bolts to the rear of the cab. The forward legs come down and attach to the top lip of the front plate. I don’t have any pics, but hope this helps.

thanks gino. my mistake on the first one. just assumed since my buddy took these pics that it was during and not b4…unlike the destroyed ones that i know were during!!

Looking close at the 1st picture it looks like some troops trying to get some of the trucks out, were they able to? too bad the State news never showed things like this. good moral booster.

We were able to move all the trucks out of the way and there were no isseus with them. The fire stayed outside the berm as well, so it turned out to be not a big problem anyways.
