God understands a man’s need to model. He’s the one who gave it to us, after all!

Anyway, just remember to be a very good person in the week after Mad Tiger Day! [angel]

Is that it? I know we lost some members do to the OT flap and schedules caused a few drops but I thought we were around 20 strong?
I’ll go through the old posts to see if I can contact some possibles.
Small or large, it’ll still be fun a whole lotta fun, I just need to know roughly how large a group to figure how to handle the webpage.
i think i am still in.
unless i end up going to ny to see the gf that weekend.
Im just a maybe ausf.
If I get my compressor im in, If I don’t get it then im out.
Hi Ausf,
Last night, I picked up a Dragon 1/72 Tiger with molded zimmerit. Just looking at the kit, it seems pretty decent. I am not the speediest builder on the planet, so completing it in a day would be a challenge. Still, it might be a fun change of pace, so I might be in.
I tried locating the link that you mentioned in the original post, but couldn’t find it, so basically what is the deal? Everybody build like the dickens on a specified day and e-mail photos?
The main thing was to get everyone to build the same kit the same day and see what happens. Some may be extremely accurate builds, some might not. I may just stick a charred roadwheel in some mud and call it ‘Bad day for the 502’, who knows.
Just wanted to see what people come up with in a short time without the luxury of drying coats of paint, et al.
All in fun.
The protocal for the website will be decided soon in terms of getting me the photos. I think the plan is still to post them grouped anonymously at first. There will also be a open post the day of for progress, the ‘I glued the turret to my head’ stuff.
Some were originally planning on starting at 12:01 and putting in a seriuos effort, some are more casual. Should be good, or at least entertaining.[;)]
OT flap? What happened? Did some people leave the armor forum? Why?
[(-D]
I’m definitely still in! I’m surprised there aren’t more nutburgers out there to join us.
If you want to standardize the kit, let me know and I will build that one. As long as it’s the zimmerit Dragon, or the Revell, that is. [:)]
No way I’m getting up at midnight for this – hmmm, I might actually start at midnight, though, as I am usually up past then on the weekend. (Lightbulb goes off.)
So, I can’t post my own pics as I build? Ok, that’s fine. I’ll just have to check in to see what the story is on the build. I might actually not bother – time better spent building and painting.
Ausf,
I think you need to sacrifice a sherman to get some mojo going
Nothing like a pagan ritual to stir things up
I hope the sherman dude didn’t scare antbody away
Sacrificing a Sherman (model) wouldn’t pose much of a problem for me, just not my Tamiya 1/16 full option (too expensive).
Does my son’s Corgi M4 qualify? What do I do, flush it?
I think Phroosh is still hiding under his bed, but everyone else is taking it in stride.
It’s a little frustrating that Dragon doesn’t give you spare links for the Zimmerit Tiger I. The Germans always had spare links on the turret sides of the late production Tiger I to help protect it, and often bolted them to the hull front as well. None seem to be provided with the kit.
The Revell late-war kit gives you the links, but it comes w/o zimmerit!
It seems that the only really accurate Tiger you can build straight out of the box is the Tunisia (or early Russian Front) Tiger I with the early kit from Revell. Grrr!
I guess I can build the Dragon kit and add the links to the turret later.
Careful Larry,
You’re working yourself into a lather…[;)]
Hysterical ! [:D][:D][:D]
I think he’ll be okay - when he gets hungry -he’ll come out
I’m set. I got Revell Germany’s tiger ausf E. THINKING about zim, but thats a whole other story. Got my acryls and CA, as always and I’m good to go.
Gee, your hair smells terrific! [(-D]
I may join you in the charred wheel build.
i know i had declared myself as in on this one,
but i got a new part-time job & i have 2 work on
Mad Tiger Day… all day, like 8am -8pm…
doesn’t leave much time 4 building, much less
posting progress updates, so i must very
reluctantly withdraw from this build. [:(]
i’m looking forward 2 seeing the results of this
madness, however , & i wish u all the best of
luck w/ ur builds…
“someday i’ll build a Tiger…” she said wistfully.

Ryan, you thinking about pasting it or what??
Ausf (and all), I picked up Dragons Late with zimm yesterday. Looks pretty good. Hadn’t noticed about the spare links for the turret. Those will have to come later! The hull is not cast, by the way. It’s injection just like the rest of the kit! I can’t wait to see this one built up. Already found the first error on the instruction sheet, though. What a pain! (No, I haven’t opened any of the sealed bags!!)
Now I need to decide do I do the DML or the Revell H?? Decisions, decisions!!
I am still in, however I may rock the boat a little by going for a 1/35. At my LHS the price difference between a decent 1/72 and an acceptable 1/35 is negligable. I prefer to build in 1/35, especially after my experiment with 1/72 Revell tracks. The only difference is a bit more glue and paint. The build is the same, possibly easier and I still need my pub time.
Hope this is OK
Daveash,
I think you may be missing the point a bit. The idea is to build the same kit on the same day. Logistics make it hard for everyone from different locations to get the exact same kit, but the thought is to have to fight the same battle.
By building a 1/35 you may be excluding yourself from the trials and tribulations that will make the day.
