I have read that the F/A-22 Raptor will replace the F-15E Strike Eagle. As of yet I’ve not seen anything on a two seat version of the F/A-22 ; accomidations for the weapon systems officer (F/A-22B or E ?). I would asume if it’s going to take over the duties of the stike Eagle there would need to be a two seat variant. Has anyone heard anything to this affect?
That sounds like a coll kit bash project. Hmmmmmmmmmm, maybe when I have a little more time to see if it can be done.
So far everything I’ve heard about the F-22 is that it will be/is a single seater. There may be some info out there though that someone will come across about it a bit more though.
My take was that the F-22 is so much more advanced that a computer can take over enough of the flight and otrher details to allow one man to do what once took two to four. I guess only time and real-world situations will proove wether or not this holds true in practice though…

According to International Airpower Review there is no planned EMD test aircraft for a two seater F/A-22. It’s Air-to-ground capabilities were realized back in early 2001 without the need for an expensive upgrade. So the USAF simply re-designated our Raptor from F-22 to F/A-22.
I’ve been thinking of two seat version project for this myself, willuride! I guess we won’t be seeing any model companies coming out with a two see version for the Raptor. too bad! I wonder what the new air crews coming into the Raptor will think about only having one set of eyes in the cockpit for air-to-ground instead of two. I guess not much different than the F/A-18 guys I guess. Hey plasticmod992. What issue of International AirPower Review did you see that in?
Maybe you’re referring to the FB-22 concept in Popular Mechanics a while back. That was supposed to be delta-winged tailless bomber with room for around 12 Small-Diameter bombs.
