1.) are the blades in the 100 pack of X-axto knife blades as sharp as the ones in the standard five piece set?
2.) I just bought a touch-n- flow applicator- anyone here use one? I have always used the Tamiya stuff- any advantages of the Touch N Flow with Tenax over the Tamiya stuff?
I buy my blades in the 100-pack and never had any problems with them being sharper/duller vs. the standard 5 pack tube. They are manufactured the same way…just packaged in bulk and since I will often change blades at least once for every new build (sometimes I will use 2 if there’s a lot of cleanup or I accidentally break or bend the delicate tip) project. Even with that 100 blades is a good long supply to have on hand…and the economics are definitely there vs. buying 5 at a time IMHO. They are oiled to prevent rusting so you can store them long term in the box they come in provided you keep the box closed just like you would with the tube. HTH!
Can’t give you any info on the touch-n-flow unfortunately.
What Tamiya “stuff”?
Bill- Thanks for the imput. I saw the box in staples and figured id pick it up- Ive had problems in the past with little plastic black box knives not being sharp enough, but they were sold in the LHS without the packaging.
The Tamiya “stuff” is Tamiya Extra Thin cement, with the green lid.
The Touch n Flow is designed for use with thin plastic weld, which evaporates very quickly. I havn’t tried Tamiya Extra Thin with the TnF, but I imagine you may have problems with it gumming up in the tip.
If you put some of the Tamiya stuff (sorry) down & leave it, does it all evaporate? If it leaves a residue I wouldn’t advise using it with the TnF.
The Tamiya Extra Thin does evaporate, just not as quickly as the Tenax.
But the Tamiya should leave a bit of residue though…
