Not sure if these would be better off in the deals section-- but they involves airplanes- so who knows [;)]
Does any company sell the Hamilton insignias for propellors?? The Heller Texan I am finishing off did not include any decals of these and I have no spares…
I have the TGR “Tuskegee Airmen in Italy” sheet and it has Pruitt’s markings for Alice Jo-- but I was wondering if there are any available for his wingman- Lee Archer?? Archer flew “INA the Macon Belle”- and while I can use most of Pruitt’s markings-- the fuselage code is one digit off…as well as the nose art obviously. I eventually want to build Archer’s ride as he was the one true ace of the 332nd…and would love to know where to get decals for his Stang. Also-- how were “shared” kill markings depicted?? I see swaztikas for kills-- but wasn’t sure how shared kills would look??
I can answer one question for you, Mike Grant Designs does a set of beautiful Hamilton Standard logos in three scales that are very nice, I keep a set of his markings on hand all the time to replace the crappy ones that come in most kits. http://www.mikegrantdesign.com/decals/
Depending on the squadron and/or pilot, shared kills were sometimes depicted with a half swastika or Japanese flag. This wasn’t always the case, but I’ve seen pictures of them depicted this way.
Jeeves,
Aeromaster made Archers markings on sheet amd48224. It is listed as out of production
but can still be found. Here is my Tamiya kit (originally shown in one of frostygirls posts).
Hey-- thanks guys!! Swanny-- I will definitely email Mr. Grant- thanks!
garydmason-- I thought it might be something like that, but wanted to be sure.
philp-- that is one fine looking plane-- I’ll see if I can’t dig up those decals somewhere…I plan on putting 5 kill markings on this one as I have read that Archer did get the full credit for all 5 many years after the fact…
