I’m building the Revell F15E and i’m about to put the intakes together but the round ends where the fans are glued to seem way out of shape it’s possible to hold them in place with some difficulty but I know I’ll get glue everywhere and a sore hand from having to hold it all so tightly for at least an hour. Are the fans supposed to fit into the semi circle parts perfectly or is one side supposed to be out of whck as it would seem, If anyone has the instruction I think it’s step two.
Also how do you use humbrol metal cote properly I was paiting the siad fans with the steel colour and after a couple of brushes it just seemed to come of on the brush in clumps almost.

you could just sand some of the fan parts but i did not encounter any of that in my revell kit but in painting metallics on the aircraft i may advice you to have a airbrush or a spray can with your desired color of metallics or if you insist in hand brushing it i advice you to add some thinner with the brush in order to solve your problem. mail me if there still any problem specially concernning f-15 kits at darylirwinayo@yahoo.com. enjoy the hobby
Hi, ROOSTA_! Humbrol Metalcote is one of my favourite paint ranges, but you have to know how to use the paints properly. Frist, don’t even think of brush-painting it. It doesn’t cover in one coat, and if you try to overcoat it, even after leaving it a day to dry and cure, it just lifts the previous coat. Airbrushing is fine, but although it says on the tin that it is airbrush-ready, actually, it isn’t. It needs to be thnned slightly - perhaps 30% thinner (turps or enamel thinner, for preference) to 70% paint. You can then spray gently at fairly low pressure, building up several thin coats.
To get the metallic sheen that makes the paint so great, leave it to dry for at least a few hours. Then gently polish, using a soft, clean cloth, in one direction. As you build up the sheen, you can then move to a circular motion, which gives, if you want it, a deep metallic shine that you can see your face in! Don’t polish hard, though, because you’ll risk rubbing the paint off.

I’m building the kit right now and I will take a look at it tonight when I get home from work. I don’t recall having any problems with the piece that represents the turbine blades at the front of the engines. Those are the ones you are referring to, correct? Hopefully we can get it figured out quick for ya!
