I havent built the kit so I don’t know about the gaps you are filling. However, I’d approach them like any other gap. If it’s small just fill it with some Mr. Surfacer 500. If it’s a bit bigger fill it with putty, I like Squadron green. If it’s to big for filler initially put in some shims of styrene, let the glue dry then trim off the excess. Once done, move to the above methods. If the gap in is a door jam where a line is supposed to be, fill it with styrene, sand smooth then rescribe your line.
The gold colored MC cap can be done by mixing a drop of metalic silver and gold. Mix to taste then apply.
BTW, Miliput has it’s uses but as a seam filling finishing putty it’s not a good choice. It builds surfaces and makes parts ok but if you want something that feathers and sands nicely you’ll have to use a different product. Squadron putty feathers well but needs primed so paint doesn’t soak in. Mr. Surfacer 500 sands smooth and can be smoothed and feather with Gunze’s own thinner and a q-tip. I’ve read that 3M makes an acrylic glazing putty that works very nicely too and comes in a tube that will never need replacing it’s so big.
I can’t help with the first at all.
With the second, a metalizer of some form? I know that all the usual metalizer suspects offer some form of gold/brass. You could even mix in some aluminum or steel to desaturated it a bit away from the polished brass look.
For gap filling I use auto glazing putty (used to be called spot putty for us old timers).
For the gold protective coating on many parts, I use a mix of about 1/3 gold and 2/3 steel or aluminum color.
Thank you for your reply. I’m looking forward to getting back to my model bench!
Oops! I meant to write “thank you for your replies”. Sorry!
Hey,mouse! Is there a depression where the decals go.?? If there is use.010 sheet styrene cut to fit and glue in place. As far as the paint use TESTORS gold and TESTORS steel.Mix until you have the right shade on a paper plate with a plastic coating on it.Then you,re good to go.The paper plates make good mixing palates. tankerbuilder
