With all the hoopla surrounding the Nuremberg show, these two have kind of slipped in quietly for upcoming releases in 1/48- while overshadowed by their upcoming gorgeous 1/48 Tornado, these are two certainly needing new tooled kits…
first up, and a natural follow up to their Ventura- the Hudson, in RAF colors

Sorry, guys, that’s not a Hudson, it’s a Ventura in British colors as the listing says. The Hudson was the smaller precursor of the Ventura. The tell is the ventral gun position, longer engine nacelles and cowls, etc. on the Ventura. To do a Hudson in 1/48, you’d have to find the out-of-production Classic Airframes kit or maybe a vac kit(?).
Definitely waiting anxiously for that Stearman!
[dto:] No matter which color scheme I go with on the Stearman, it’s going to look really nice compared to the usual drab colors found on all the fighters and bombers in my collection. Gotta love those old yellow wings!

My mistake, it is indeed a RAF Ventura, and not a Hudson. But still very welcome with its RAF equipment.
I also noticed that they plan on rereleasing their C-47 next quarter. I’ve been waiting for that reissue for a long time.
I think we need a nice DC-3 more than we need a C-47 
Well it’s not like both kits have not been done, are not out there, and can not be found. I saw the Monogram 1/48 Eastern Airlines DC-3 on Ebay just the other day when I was looking thru there.
Too many of the supposed DC-3 kits have the big cargo door scribed on the side. Don’t specifically remember the Monogram one you mention, but I think it was long enough ago that it probably doesn’t have the molding quality of recent kits.
The Monogram DC-3 is a rework of their original C-47 molds- no cargo doors and the smaller step door instead, no astrodome for the navigator, and something different with the tail cone as well. The interior has the passenger seats instead of the side benches, and a set of molded curtains to glue in place over the windows once those are installed. While it does not have recessed panel lines of todays kits (inaccurate for the overlapping skin panels and raised rivets of a gooney) it still builds up quite nicely. I saw one built (C-47) at an IPMS meet a couple years back where the builder had built up enough paint and the sanded the raised panel lines down to wher it looked like those were drawn on. It looked fantastic! I still have not been able to replicate his technique for that.
Sorry to tangent the topic, but since were now talking DC-3/C-47s, how about a 1/48 Ju-88 A-1 so we can finally have a Battle of Britain variant? They did it in 1/32 scale. Anyone else with me on this?
