TWA Super Constellation

Hello all,

Anyone have a source or sources for the paint scheme (re: colors) on the TWA Lockheed Super Constellation. It is a two color scheme, Upper two thirds of the fuselage in white and the bottom third in grey or aluminum. I have several color photos of various TWA Super Connees but it is difficult (at least for me) to determine the bottom fuselage color. Any information will be appreciated.

Thanks to a Finescale forum member in Austraila I’ll soon have the correct TWA decals. We were able to affect a decal trade.

These forums are a boon to all of us modelers. Thanks FineScale Modeler.

I’m real certain that they were originally aluminum. The 6937 is gray, but I’m not sure why. She is heavily renovated from a long and sad life.

Here’s a shot of another 1049

You might want to look at the Save A Connie foundation here. They have an excellent walk around page with good photographs. I too have many taken of the Connies that made appearences at EAA.

I helped someone with the same question awhile back. The TWA Connie in service had a white top and natural metal belly. The referburished Connie has a grey belly.

Do a search on airliners.net will give you penty of reference phots.

Does anyone know if the Revell of Germany 1:144 issue (saw it in the new Squadron lit.) is the same as the Minicraft 1:144 issue number 14443? Both have TWA schemes on the box. Thanks. Joe

The new RoG kit is a totally new tool, and miles ahead to the Minicraft offering.

Thanks for the info, Silverback.
