2018 will be my year of the ship! I’ll have to build the three white elephant kits that I got from my model club white elephant gift exchanges (non of them are ships this year). Since the clubs give special drawing rules for those who have completed their models, I found it is really important to build those kits.
But I have told my friends in the model clubs I belong to that I will be concentrating on ships with few exceptions this year. First on the bench willl be the Lord Nelson, followed by the 1:150 HMS Victory. Hope to also build the Revell Viking ship and also get some more rigging done on the Heller Soleil Royal.
I guess mine will be too. After moving into the new place about 5 weeks ago, the wife wanted something to put on top of a corner 1/2 wall in the living room. We tried putting the Scottish Maid (my avatar) up there but it was too small (24 long x 14 high). She looked through my stash and found a kit of the Schooner “Emma C. Berry”. It’s an old R/C kit I wanted to build but never started. It’s 49-1/2" long x 10-1/4" beam and 40" to the top of the mast. No place to sail it around here, so, I’ll just build it to sit on the wall. Don’t have to worry about the gear to sail her and can add some details to spruce her up a bit. The bulkheads are on the keel and I’ve started the planking. Looks like it’s going to be a fun project. I’ll take pics and if I ever find a way to post them, I will.
Well , I guess I’ll have to produce something besides my client’s build .How about the Charles De Gaulle and some other floaty thingys ? Yeah that’ll work !
