I have been thinking a lot of good questions in the past few days and I know you guys will have some fun answering them for me. And there will be some more later.
I notice the use of copper wire on models. It’s a great addition and it’s a detail I truly like.
What type of wire and what gauge wire is more realistic depending on the scale of the model, and can get the wire at my hardware store?

Telephone and speaker wire are good choices. So is wire from PC boards and other computer peripheries. Microsolder is another good choice.
Telephone wire can be had for free if you just pay attention to where phone box repairs are being made. the other stuff can be had at either the local hardware store or radio shack.
Also, if you have no compunction against searching the trash, lots more useful stuff can be had for free.
Hobby Lobby has lots of different gauges of wire in their beading section. Pretty inexpensive also. Should be able to satisfy most needs.
