Well its been awhile but iam back this is trumpeters1/32 F4U-4 i used the grand pheonix cockpit and added some wires to the P/W engine hopefully ill get some more done because this has been 3 weeks worth of progress but you cant rush perfection[:P]So here’s what i have done.
Wulf Thanks for the welcom back its good to be back. Brian you might not have to wait to long just finished the fusalage assembly. And thank you. wing_but thanks a bunch i thought at first they where to small but looks can be deceving[:D]
Hey welcome back smoking! Excellent job so far, I’m a sucker for an engine lol. I spruced my Tamiya 1/48 F-4U 1-D engine up with some wires. I think you may be right about the size, just a touch too small. But it still looks good. I’m no rivet counter. Should be nice when completed! Here’s a photo of my engine
Did it take you a long time to wire it up? Took me like 2 hours i think. Great job, make sure you keep us in the look on this one!
Ok Thanks guys well here is what ive got done and boy i shure wish trumpy would make a diffrent way to attach movible surfaces these are a bugger, good thing ove got another maybe ill just glue them in place next time [:D] so here you all go
Thanks Jerry, I’ll tell you all this those hinges a rea real b&*(h, Iwas at the LHS about a week ago just after i picked this kit up and there was a young girl and her father looking for paint and they had picked up the F4U1D and after talking to them and the sales guy found out that she was new to modeling and i didnt have the heart to tell them that that kit isnt a beginners kit now i wish i did hopefully it wont discurage her from building more.
I built the HobyCraft/Trumpter F4F, and each wing took a complete day by itself with all the idiotic photo-etched hinges for the aelerons and flaps. I do like how the wings fold, though, since it helps me with my limited shelf space.
That is another reason I favor biplanes. [;)]
At my LHS, I am not bashful in pointing out to beginners what to avoid at first, and each time they thanked me and asked me if I either owned the store or worked there, and I always get a handshake. The owner doesn’t mind, since he knows he will get more return customers if they do not have too much trouble at first.
