trumpeters challenger 2

is this a good kit?

I have it and while it does have some problems with the way the wheels are offset (or something like that, I’m not really sure), it looks good in the box and the few built examples I have found all look good. FSM has a build review of it on the main page of this site.

As Kaleu said, it looks great in the box and all the built-ups I’ve seen too are fantastic.

Plus, it’s your only choice for a CII, so…
Luckily it appears to be a good kit.

I’ve not heard about the wheel problem, but I did read something about the smoke dischargers being in not quite the right position, but that’s easly fixed.

Yeah its ok, bit over-complicated in parts (turret) but I thought it was generally very accurate and crisply detailed.

(You will need to move the smoke dischargers nearer the main gun though)

I recently completed the kit as the Op Telic Gulf War 2 version, using the Challenger 1 side panels and scratchbuilt skirts IFF panels and stowage.

Basically if you are patient it is a good kit, and the wheels are fine (although not too much of a concern on my model lol ! )

Skii your challenger looks great and welcome to the forums
did the challenger 1 stuff fit well and what else did you have to do?[:)]

Thanks CC

Sort off, The front armour, yes, the side armour needed an extra panel of reactive armour at the front adding, plastic card skirts, and quite an elaborate structure to hold them to the hull (using more styrene card)

Since the hull of the chally 2 is 90% similar to the chally 1, it was not to hard a task.

it looks the part

Awesome Challlenger Skii. Do you have an M1 to go along with it? [:p]

Thanks Tigerman

Negative on the M1, but tempted

Skii, that’s a very nice Challenger 2 you’ve created there! Great job on the update.
I agree with you 100% about the over-complicated assembly. Could have been done much more simply, but it’s only really a pain to lazy modelers like me!

I recently saw a resin update set with the skirts and all, and I really wish I could remember who made it, because it wasn’t very good at all! VERY rough sculpting and molding. And without a brandname to watch out for, that was a worthless little bit of information, wasn’t it?

Anyway, great job, Skii!

Thanks J-Hulk [;)]

thanks guys

skii, i have a qusetion, i would like to make that paint chipping stuff on my kit. how did u do that? on the second pic down on top of the turret, and the front of the hull. if looks like the wear gets gradually fader. thanks
