Trumpeter's 1/32 MiG-3

I was checking out the Trumpeter website and found some good pix of their new 1/32 MiG-3. I wasn’t too familiar with this particular aircraft, but after seeing these pictures I’ve become quite interested in it and other WWII Soviet designs.
Anyway, it looks like a nice kit. I may just give it a shot!

Enjoy!

Good to see that! A bit more exotic than Me-109s, FW-190 and Spits. I really love Trumpeter!

Same here, Domi!
Trumpeter is really putting out some exciting products.
I hope they follow through on some of their announced kits, like the 1/35 Mi-24 Hind and 1/16 T-34/76.
Good stuff!

I think the Mig-3’s big claim to fame is that it was the first Mig fighter to serve in the Soviet Air Force. They fought early on in WWII but not in the same numbers as the Yak fighers.

I think the classic Russian WWII fighters are the Yak-7 and -9 series and Lavochkin La-5 and 7s. I believe the ‘P-51’ of the Soviet Air Force was the YaK-3.

Hobby Craft was great in the late 80’s when they started coming out with various Russian WWII fighers in 1/48 before anyone else did. I think the jewel of Russian WWII aircraft kits the Accurate Miniatures IL-2M3 Sturmovik.

It looks good. I have a Classic Airframes 1/48 MiG 3 shelved. The resin cockpit was designed with the side & back panels molded to the floor, making painting nearly impossible. From what I’ve seen, the ICM kit is not very impressive to me. Its nice to see this attractive fighter produced as what appears to be a good kit. I only wish it was 1/48 !

Pix, you couldn’t just cut the sides and back off, paint it then CA it back on? I would think the joint could be hidden and touched up pretty easily.
