Trumpeter WR 360 C12 Locomotive color question.

It seems that the red chassis paint scheme is wrong from Trumpeter as per the box and the painting sheet.

The red chassis went only with the body painted a paleish green (don’t know the exact German word for it). I’ve seen an example of this built however it was in German Text. There are also photos on the web of real examples ot this Loco in green.

Does anyone over here know anything about this. Was its green during WWII in service, and what is the green exactly?

Another thing I found out is that the C12 DID NOT pull the Leopold K5, the C14 did. So the box art is wrong again.

Anyone have any insight?

Wilbur,

I built mine a while back, and you are correct about the red. From what I have read, it was applied after the war when these were put into civilian service. As far as work during the war, they were mainly used in railyards. For the bigger items, like the leopold or a morser, they would often put 2 of them together. Since they were only used in the railyard, they did’nt need something big like the BR52(which is in my stash, waiting to be built and coupled with a Leopold. I got alot of reference from missing lynx, and also google. Any thing else you need, pm me and I’ll be happy to help with what I know. I have to be honest, I prefer the rail stuff to the tanks…I’m gonna get hit for saying that, everyone pick their jaws up. [:-^]

I decided to employ a little “artistic license”, and mine are red.( I found out about the civil service thing after the fact…[:I]

Anyway, I coupled mine with a Panzerjagerwagen, and here’s what I ended up with

Anyway, thats my 2cents, hope it helps, anything else you need, let me know.
