Looking good so far. I built that kit a year or so ago. Here is my WIP on the kit which may give you some ideas for addditions or how to finish

If you have any questions, feel free to pull my lanyard.

Actually your build is what inspired me to build this gun. And now that I am at the finishing stage, i went back to look at your amazingly built version.

Just one quick question. On the solid green version would Tamiya Nato Green, be a good match for it?

Thanks for the help.[H]

Yep…by time the M198 was introduced the NATO paint colors were also coming into the system. Remember the barrel area forward of the recoil sled to about the taper and even inside the recoil sled is bare steet. Look at my WIP and you will see the areas that don’t get painted green!!

Good luck…I will be watching from my forward observation area !!

Looks like the muzzle brake is a bit off-center…

Hi Hans, yes I do know that. But its not the muzzle its the entire gun that I managed to screw up during installation.[:@]

Looks O.K. from the poor pics. I can’t tell if you painted the rear portion of the barrel steel or not. Also, the smaller rods on the elevation pistons should be polished chrome. Looks like it is coming along well though.

My brothers have already given you my comments…keep on plugging

Ahh, roger that… Sorry to hear about that… But, given the cost of that beastie, I can understand your perseverance on it… I got it for Father’s Day from my son yesterday (he mailed it to me, so I’ll cut him some slack, since at least he remembered this year ), so my "US Army Towed Arty " collection is now 99% complete… (Still need an M119) ‘Course that’s just the guns… I’m short on Prime Movers too… Need two 5-tons still, one for that M198, and one for m’ Pig (M114)…
