TRUMPETER E25, Update July 13,08 /8 pics of revisions

Hello doc-hm3

Love the Ambush camo, That is a cool pattern.[tup] Thanks for bringing up the color of the periscope. It’s noted.

Best Regards,

That’s one cool looking camo. Nicely done.

Since the last report, I have glosscoated, applied 2 filters, applied the pinwashes and just today dullcoated everything.

The next steps are drybrushing, and I am going to try my hand at scatches and paint chipping. Then to finnish her I will be painting the rims, tracks, tools and every other little thing that I can think of. And of course attaching the surtzen. By next report I hope to have her done.

Doc the filters and washes blended the camo in perfectly it looks great ive built the E-10 and it really looks like i am going to have to add this one too, looking forward to seeing her move closer to the finish.

Doc…it look like this operation is a WINNER. Looks good, in the home strech now

Rounds Complete!!

Well she’s finnished. Since the last update I have drybrushed, applied scratches and paint chipping for my first time, applied Humbrol polished steel to the rims, track cleats, guide horns and tools. I also added rust stains and streaks. Okay, I’m presnting her to you guys first, and later this morning taking her to the group of guys that I meet with at the local Hobby Town. I respect your opinions so let’em fly. These first eight pictures are before I attached the schurzen. These six are with the schurzenShe’s been out in the elements and the forrest skulking for targets. She chews Russian armor up and spits it out like cheap tin foil.

Your E25 is lookin real good. The only think that I might have done different is the muffler. YOu might want to try the MIG pigments. I have great results with them. They really give the rusted look. If you want I can send you a couple of pics of what I was able to achive. Or just look on the forums here. Also just a liitle of the pigments to give it a dusty look.

Please only take this as constructive, I am still learning and there are better builders out here in the forums.

But I have bookmarked your build. Also your idea of after Berlin is what I am basing my E100 Ausf B on.

Keep up the great work.

Fantastic build, doc-hm3!!![tup][tup]

That is some top notch camo painting, and you did a fantastic job giving it a rough steel look in some areas, with chipped paint and etc.[bow]

Some beautiful work there doc, especially on the scratching on the schurzen and the blending of the camo.

In the photos at least, the rust color of the muffler appears too bright/orangeish and I would recommend toning it down as moose suggested. I would also recommend revisiting the amount of rust you have portrayed on the tracks and either add a darker wash (burnt umber perhaps?) to tone them down and/or add some pigment weathering to give them a dustier look vs. how they appear now.

You’ve done very well with this one, keep it up! [tup]

VERY good work! This has turned out really well.

The only little zit I can spot is the three outer roadwheels on each side. There is a shine on the rims that shouldn’t be there since the outside surfaces of the outer rims do not come into contact with the track guide horns. The wear pattern on the inner wheels are correct.

DISASTERMASTER

Definitely one to be proud of!!![tup] You did a wonderful job with the paint job and especially the weathering. Top notch work. The chipping and the schurzen look great!!!

Another sitrep on the E25. First off, I do very much appreciate your helpful suggestions.

#1 Moose421, on the muffler I took your ideas and applied them with paint and pastels, and yes I would very much like to see your pics with the Mig pigments.

#2 wbill76, I was going for the oxidated look, but I agree it was a bit too much, and I revisted the muffler also.

#3 disastermaster, keen eye buddy, I also noticed this while finishing BUT!!! forgot to write it down on my check off list. Thanks for the very much needed reminder on the wheel rims.

I thank all of you for your helpful comments and for all of the undeserved praise from the rest of the members of our “DARKSIDE FRATERNITY”

Moose, I had thought of starting my storyline as an ongoing build for others whom might be interested in participating, kind of like some forums where one guy starts a story and the next one picksup the ball and runs with it, and so on and so on. I wonder if there might be any interest in this idea?

I have added some pic’s taken outdoors.

Guys I caught one other error, hopefully the last one. On the inner side of the track where the guide horns are, there should be a worn/polished surface where the steel wheels make contact with the track. Here’s two more pics, I’m practicing with our camera.

Hi Doc,

VERY IMPRESSIVE! I’ve had my eye on this kit for a while, trying to justify its high price, and I must say you inspire me to take the plunge. This ‘giant Hetzer’ is a formidable-looking beast and you make her seem very real indeed.

Cheers,

TB379

Auchtung-EXPERTEN !! BEAUTIFUL.

Simply a fantastic build!!

Now who makes this conjectural 1946 type in 1:72?

EDIT: Found!

Wargaming tanks but you get two in the box [:)]

Thanks for piping in guys. Disastermaster, D.A.F.T. sounds more complete, except for the deffinition from the dictionary;#1. sensless, stupid or foolish. BUT! I do like the second deffintion; #2.crazy, insane;mad. We had better get a consensus.

Some fantastic work. Rare to see such a lightly weathered model these days.

I believe actual daylight reflects the colors more accurately.

Very nice doc, very nice. [tup]

Here are the pictures of my mufflers.

This is the results of using MIG pigments. Usually I would start with painting the muffler burnt iron. I would then use standard rust, vietnam earth and black smoke. The standard rust is the main color. I applied it dry and made some places darker than others. I would then use the vietnam earth. This helps blend the rust. The black smoke went on next. This tones the rust coloring down. I finally would put on highlights of standard rust.

Hope this helps.
