Modelers, have sitting in the stash for almost two years, I’ve finally broke out the big A-10 to look it over. I’m comparing the kit’s weapons with that of the Academy F-18 and I’m seeing hugh differences. I’ve noted that the AGM-65 have rivets that are way overdone compared to the Academy Mavericks. However, the biggest worry lies with the GBU-10. The fins are totally different then those from the F-18. Trumpteter’s GBU-10s have long straight rear fins while Academy 's are more laid back and short. Looking around on the net shows that the Academy GBUs are correct. I couldn’t find anything that looked like those in the Trumpter kit.

What’s going on here? Is it possible that these were maybe early GBU-10s or something? I can’t believe they got it that wrong!

I’ve heard that the stores on that one are pretty bad. I’m building it right now (progress photos at This Link) John McCormick mentions the weapons in his build review at This Link. I’m not sure what I’m going to do when I get to that point.

I bought that kit at a Hobby Lobby sale awhile back because of the great 1/2 price. I definately should have left it on the shelf. There are major size and shape problems with all of the items in the kit.
