This may be a lame question, but here goes anyway. I have been building WWII 1/48 scale aircraft for some years now and I have just now discovered Trumpeter. I haven’t actually built the kit yet, I just bought it yesterday and opened it for a peek[:)]. It is their 1/48 P-40B. I was shocked at the contents, including 3 photo-etch parts. The quality looks absolutely amazing!
Are these models as good as they look in the box, in terms of fit, etc? I guess I’ll find out soon enough, but I’m building a Hasegawa Typhoon before starting the P-40 and wanted to get your comments.
Well i built the 1/24 scale bf109g-6 and the kit went together vary well, they are pretty detaild kits all in all i like them hope yours dosnt have any fit problems and gos together with out a hitch keep us posted.
Trumpeter is sort of the new kid on the block. Each release of theirs seems to get a little better than their last.
I don’t now about their 1/48th P-40B, but I think it is just scaled down form their 1/32 kit, which I have. The only real problem I know of is a cockpit that is too shallow. I bought a resin set to correct mine.
Trumpeter’s 48th P-40B/C may fit together very well, but when you finish building it, it don’t really look like a P-40B/C. The spinner has the wrong shape as does the chin radiator, and BIG rivets galore!!
The profile isn’t as good as the old Monogram kit. With a razor saw , a pound of putty, the Monogram spinner, and several resin upgrade, it’ll pass as a P-40B/C. Just too much work and money to make several versions of this classic aircraft.
Come on Tamiya, make one so all these good people won’t have to hear me bitch!!
