Trumpeter 1/72 F-105D done. *pics*

Started this one last Thursday night. It’s not my scale or subject but I built it for a friend of mine and thought it looked kinda neat so here are a few shots.

I recently made a rack for my back sweep that mounts on the bench so hopefully my photos will be a bit more decent.

I’ve been tinkering with the manual settings on the camera trying to figure out how to use it. More practice needed.

I’ve only built one Trumpeter kit before so I can’t tell you if this one is par for the course or not. It fit well, panel lines are nice and sharp thought rivet detail was a bit large for the scale.

The only area I had to work on some was the refueling probe cover. It didn’t come close to filling the hole it was supposed to. Paint is MM enamels and Tamiya acryls. Flat is PolyScale. There is no weathering at the request of the owner.

Speaking of paint, when I do another SE Asia camo pattern I’m going to have to remember to use a lighter green for that particular shade. After Future and flat the two greens look like the same color. Bummer.

It was fun and quick but I’m not jumping to jets anytime soon. Especially in 1/72. Hats off to those of you who do 1/72!

Comments welcome.

Looks nice.

Started it on Thursday night? Pretty amazing for less than 48 hours…

Mark

Nice looking build, especially in that period of time.

Karl

Sorry. LAST Thursday night.[:I] I’ll go back and fix that.[8)]

Very nice job on a braille scale gas passer. The detail on it looks very nice and clean paint job. When I seen you posting a jet I thought ‘‘dont turn to the dark side HK’’. I only build Marine Corps jets. Good job and well done.

Steve

Sharp little Thud ya got there HK! Thanks for sharing the pics.

Looks good HK. Trumpeter has now done one in 1/32 & 1/72… I think they need to do one more in 1/48… Please.

Regards, Rick

Very nice work on one of my favorite airplanes. BTW, the two greens in the standard SEA camo ARE extremely close to the same shade. To be authentic, you don’t want a real obvious difference.

Hey awsome Troy! That looks great (even though it is 72nd [:P])

Agreed Rick, they need to do one in 48th [tup]

Beautiful job on the Thud, HK. Only a week start to finish??? Even more impressive. How was the fit of the Trumpy kit?

Jeff

Don’t be too hard on yourself regarding the green. It looks accurate to me! Great job - especially in the short time and straight from the box.

Also, you photos looked great. I did think the lighting fell off towards the back of the photos so the blue reflected more on the jet. But great job! I want one now.

Very nice work on that kit, especially for 72nd scale[tup]…two thumbs way up…[tup]

BTW here is my 105 in 48th…probably too much difference in the greens…

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I’ll try to fill in the rear for the next photos.

MR, thanks! Nice looking jet you have there also! Your green turned out about how mine started. After the gloss and flat coats all the contrast went away.[V] But my friend says he likes it.[:D]

Sweet looking THud, HK. Good stuff.

WOW ! NICE BUILD,I DIDN’T KNOW THAT THE KIT CAME OUT.

HOW WAS IT TO BUILD?

FRANK

Hey, that’s all that counts! I think yours actually looks more realistic than mine, and you had the challenge of working in 72nd scale!

The kit was good in general. The main gear is kinda fiddly though.

BTW, all caps means you are yelling and is considered rude, dude.[;)]

That’s a very nice F-105!

Personally I like 1/72 scale and wonder why people get so negative about it. As your results show, planes in 1/72 scale can look really nice.

I also think that it looks good without weathering – the camo pattern gets more attention that way, and the camo looks very good.

Thanks for showing the pictures.
