Greetings! How does one turn this into a correct prewar civilian DC-3? I know to add the correct uncut tailcone, remove the astrodome, use the early style carb pipes from the Monogram Dc-3, etc…what is is else wrong with this kit- surely it’s not THAT BAD?
Strangely, I can;t find a single review of this kit…
I think the horrendous comments on the Trumpy C-47 and this kit are a reflection on how much the hobby has advanced…we should be grateful for all the possibilities, instead of griping if we have to do some basic cutting and scratch building…remember the days when Vac form was the only option for all non P-51s and Me 109s?

PS The decals for this kit are a hoot- Trumpeter needs to do some basic online research because if you follow their instructions and use the kit supplied decals, your C-48A will read “ARMY ARMY” under the wings!!!
I haven’t seen a single in depth review of the new Trumpeter C-48A- why? Is it worth combining it with the old Monogram “Eastern Airlines DC-3” and fixing the cut-off tail, covering the astrodome, etc., to make the ultimate 1/48 DC-3? Anyone…?

If I were to use anything from the Trumpeter kit it would be interior bits to spruce up the Monogram kit, the Trumpeter kit has shapes that bother me more than the shape of the Monogram kit which is also not as nice as I would like it to be in some areas. But I am too cheap to buy the Trumpeter kit just for those parts which will be hard to see anyway. On the Monogram kit the engines are wrong for the Eastern decals, a prewar DC-3 in that airline would have Wrights with different cowls.
