attached are pics of the trumpeter german s.F.H 18 150mm field howitzer. it painted with polyscale german sand yellow for DAK and weathered with the new MMA black and brown washes. i know the aiming stakes would not be on the trails in firing position but it adds some color. also decided the shafts for either the rammer or cleaning rod would be wood, again for some contrast. lots of fiddley parts and very hard to get to every nook and crevice without causing runs. fortunately polyscale brushes rather nicely and armor is more forgiving than planes or boats. on to EBR-10. 
Nicely done sir!. I’ve been avoiding Trumpeter products as I’ve had a bad experience with building their K1 and K1A1 in my previous life. How was your experience with this kit? Just by looking at photos of your work, it shows lots of detail.

hi m1 lots of little parts but it went together nicely. i masked every axle hub/hole/nub before painting so i wouldn’t have a fit problem. wheels still had to be superglued though they did fit in the holes (past experience). instructions are good BUT it is possible to put things together backwards if you aren’t paying attention. scalpels are your friend but, in my case, i did the same stupid thing on my EBR-10 and it was not fixable though will be coverable with camo net. i did all the major sub assemblies and painted them before puting it all together. i may dump the second one in my stash since the first one turned out so nice.

Are you intending to display this one as deployed or did you separate it from the tow trolly just for the pics to show off the detail? I ask because the way you have it now, the large recoil spades are fitted to the trail arms in travel/tow mode but you took the pics with the trail arms in the deployed configuration.

hi wbill76 CRAP, or stronger words for model ship building. that is what those things are for. knew they weren’t baseplates but this thing is bigger than my 4.2" mortars, which dates me again. it is now in travel mode with all the fixing that went along with little things popping off. thanks for the info. the instructions only show it in travel mode which is odd. i think it presents better this way. all the detail is together.
hi buckeye i may do some more of these since this turned out. have the 150mm infantry field gun which is suppose to be nice and a couple of soviet 122mm cannon plus every light german FLAK. 
Glad you were able to correct it and put it back into travel mode Wayne! I figured it might be down to the instructions not telling you about the options…wouldn’t be the first time a mfr was less then clear in the ‘destructions’ department. [;)]
I’d say it was probably the Trumpeter instructions! I’ve only built one Trumpeter and found that the instruction diagrams were “unclear” in part orientations, and didn’t really give any options at all (ie with Tamiya and Academy they show hatch open/closed, doors open/closed, etc).
Great build Wayne. I guess it would risk too much damage to get it into the deployed position?

normally, if i am not sure i want the hatches open or closed i will use white glue so i can change my mind. had i known what these thing were, that is what i would have done. HOWEVER they are superglued and would likely be a big mess with debonder etc. there were a couple of places where i put things together backwards and had to scalpel them apart and redo. may have been the instructions, probably as much not paying attention the next gun id the sig 33 150 field gun and i have to decide on deployed or travel. it is not split trail but the spade and handle are stored differently. also, in firing mode, the aiming stakes would not be on the front shield. i also think the sight would be removed in travel mode. that’s what we did with my mortars.
