Hi,
I just recieved my Trumpy Hellcat. Has anyone built this kit and what kind of surprises if any am I in for. It looks like it will be a great build. I want to finish in markings of VF-5, USS Yorktown late '43 or early '44. Thanks,

It’s a pretty nice kit. Did it a couple of years ago. The overall fit and detail is well done. However, the folding wing option is poor. I recommend not doing that option. The Landing gear assembly and installation is tedious and a pain. I opted not to do the moving flap surfaces either. The engine and cockpit are great so pay special attention to them and you will be pleased. Overall, it’s a sharp, well done model.

Thanks, Andy,
We must have different kits. The Trumpeter 1/32 F6F-3 Hellcat I have don’t have a folding wing option (you choose to build with wings extended or folded ) and it don’t have movable control surfaces either. Thanks anyway.

Guys,
1st of all, I’d like to offer you a full-build article here:

2nd of all, I am truly confused!!! The trumpeter 1/32 F6F-3 has barely been out for a few months, so it could NOT have been built a few years ago; perhaps you misread the question, and are thinking of an older WILDcat build? Also, Emo…the kit provides for the option of folding one or both wings. Having built numerousTrumpeter U.S. Navy subjects, I can attest this is their best-engineered wing-fold. I hope you enjoy your build, and post pictures for us to enjoy!
Yep, I was confused…Hellcat, Wildcat…I had a brain fart there for a minute. Sorry…
