Hey all. Spent a good 3-5 Hrs a day all week getting this finished for a local show on Saturday. I didnt place, but had a great time. Met John Eaton there and his grandson. John had a couple entered also, but Ill let him tell you about that.So here is a couple of pics Hope you enjoy! Harv
[#ditto] Well done Harv, this beast really looks the part! Especially the photo from the port rear quarter. I am very happy to see you were able to finish it up for the show. [^]
The photos are not very well focused so it’s tough to play judge from this angle. It does look like some of the ordinance is misaligned. I don’t understand the coloring I’m seeing on the speed brakes and the overall weathering looks a bit heavy handed and not well blended together. Did you have a chance to talk with the judging team about your build after the judging was completed? They would be your best source of constructive critisim for improving your next build.
I had a good time at the contest, took my Turner Special and my CH-37, but didn’t bring home any trophies either. There was a fairly limited number of categories and lots of entries. But here were some very nice examples of work there and nobody won that I saw that didn’t do real nice work. The yakking about with fellow modelers was above average and the vendors had some interesting plunder, what more can you ask?
Here are some more pictures of Harv’s F-105, my overall shot had a little motion blur, these are all long exposures.
I really like the paint and I think it came out the way it should.
Nice to hear that you had a good time at the show and even better that you met John. I would love to go to a show/contest but I don’t know of any in my area.
Thanks for the better photos. Much easier to see in these. The bombs are a bit misaligned. There are some irregularities along the wing root. Some of the stenciling decals have some silvering and several of the decals looks like they were applied after the weathering was completed. Again, I suspect the best source for feedback would be the judges themselves. My building got a lot better once I started collecting feedback from contests. Volunteering to judge was also a bit benefit. Contests are always fun and awards are just a bonus. I hope you picked up some bargins from the vendors.
place or not, it’s a great build and you got to experience the show from a contestant’s standpoint…hat’s off to you, Harv! That’s one cool THud and you should be proud.
