Is it common for part of these resin seats to be broken from the factory?
I received these today and one of the seats has the resin broken from part of the front and side of the seat.
Is this something I should try and fix or should I send it back to True Details or what? I am not familiar with resin castings so I am not sure if this is uncommon or not.
I’ve had this happen to me a few times but as long as the pieces were still in the package I didin’t bother sending them back. Resin is very delicate and I’m always amazed they can cast items as thin as they do. I can’t tell from the photo it the broken pieces are still in the box but I’d get replacements as they shouldn’t be sending crap out of the factory. Hope this helps.
I bought it off Ebay so I am wondering if the seller will replace it or do I have to contact True Details?
I sent the seller on Ebay an email about it.
Mike, I think this is between you & the Ebay seller. True Details doesn’t sell direct as far as I know, they are actually owned & distributed by Squadron.
You might give Squadron a shot at replacing them.
I acquired a set of Huey armored pilot seats for the 1/32 Revell Huey and there were no instructions. I sent Cobra Co. an email explaining exactly how I came to own the seats and he replied within an hour and told me to send my snail mail and he would get them in the mail A.S.A.P.
Now, I understand that it is not quite the same as the complete seats but, hey! It’s worth a shot, Mike.
I had the same problem with some True Details P-40 cockpits. The seat in one of the cockpits was broken. The pieces were still in the bag, so I’m assuming the damage was due to shipping.
One of the other cockpits had a poorly molded sidewall. The knobs and levers were just globs of resin[:(!].
I was fortunate in that I purchased them from Squadron, and with a simple phone call to Squadron I quickly had replacement parts. I agree with Rick in that this might be between you and the Ebay seller. I have no idea how the seller packed the seats, but there’s a good chance that the damage occurred in transit. Good luck with the seller; it’s another reason I don’t do Ebay.
I’ve purchased aftermarket resin from other companies, such as Ultracast, but have not had similar problems as with True Details for some reason.
If it comes down to you needing a seat, let me know. I think I have an incomplete P-47 cockpit set from TD that I could snatch the seat from. I’m pretty sure it’s still there.
Thanks for the offer Wayne, I appreciate that very much.
I will see what the Ebay seller says as I know he is not a ripoff seller since he has a 99.8% positive feedback with 832 comments.
No problem, just let me know. Of course you realize that if I give the seat to you I will expect you to change your sig picture to a 334th FS EAGLES F-15E. No more of those 336th Rocketeers jets.
Phtooey…I clear my nose in their general direction. [;)][:)][;)]
That is one of the prettiest things I’ve seen here. The only thing that would make it better is if it was an F-4E with those markings, but I know you like Strike Eagles so it will do. Are you going to their airshow Nov. 7th by any chance? It will be my first time back to the base in about 16 years. Can hardly wait.
