Truck kits. 24th/25th advice.

Would like to try my hand at a 24th/25th truck kit.

At my LHS it seems to be Revell (not sure which division) and Italeari. Is there a better maker out of the 2 or does it depend on kit choice.I would like to know if the later kits are better quality wise etc.I have no fixed subject to go for just fancy making a truck. Is there a really good truck kit out there to go for.Advice and options would be cool.

The only kits I’ve ever seen like that are Italeri (mostly european trucks, some peterbuilt as well) and Revell-Germany (same). Trumpeter might make some, since I know they at least made a 1/25 scale fire truck. AMT/ERTL also made a few, I know I have a GMC Astro 95 by them, but I dunno what other trucks they may have made.

Also I’ve seen a Revell version of a Peterbuilt 359 for pretty cheap (around $20), and I’ve heard it was a good thread. There’s a buildup of it here /forums/1000242/ShowPost.aspx

Some of the Revell truck kits are reboxes of the Italeri kits and cost more too.

Just remember aside from having multipart body panels, the Italeri kits contain accurate bodies, but the engine(depending on the kit) may or may not be correct for the make of truck, and the frames are often very generic, and may or may not be indicitive of a specific model trucks frame, but is genericised. So if you want something accurate, you may have to get another engine, and you will need to do frame modifications to make an accurate truck. If you just want an accurate body and don’t mind assembling complex body panels, then Italeri is the way to go for sure.
