Trouble with Japanese metallic blue

I just finished the wing assembly of my Hasegawa 1/72 Zero… I’ve brush-painted the landing gear wells with that Japanese interior metallic blue… but I don’t like how it looks… Is the first time I build a Japanese warplane… what can I do?.. does this color (metallic blue) needs a primer o something like that?.. if yes, what color must I use?..

I usually paint the wells silver, then go over it with Tamiya clear blue.

Which paint are you using…I’ve successfully used model master enamel
Japanese metalic build…It has to be mixed well…sometimes paint sinks
to the bottom of the bottom so you must use a mixer and stir it up as well.

Use a couple of light coats and you should be fine.

Good luck,

Since the clear-blue is semi-transparent(Like candy apple red)you first must paint the gear -bay silver(as Crockett stated). This well result in the correct ant-cote color.

I usually have no problem when appling metallics if I do it by these steps.
1.prime area with flat coat
2.once dry apply metalic paint heavily with short strokes.
3.once apply and at sticky stage go over with dry brush to pick up excess.
This works well for me and comes out without brush marks.Digger
